Mi Shebeirach

(Friday Night Music Project (feat. Eric Schaffer))
This song is based on the Hebrew prayer for healing, summoning the strength of community toward those who need healing.

A friend of mine and member of our community was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2006. We wanted to rally for him and offer help, but for a week he and his family was unreachable. When they finally broke the silence, he and his wife announced that they were moving on with strength and commitment to live life and fight the dismal diagnosis in any way possible. I wrote this song for him, based on a Jewish liturgy prayer for healing, inspired by the strength courage and focus of my friend. In March, we celebrated the year anniversary of his diagnosis, and his clean bill of health. Miracles do happen, and defying the odds couldn't have happened to a more deserving man.
Mi Sheberach

(c) 2006 Arnie Davidson

(Chorus)
Mi Sheberach – Avotenu
Mikor habracha – l’imotenu (May He who blessed our mothers and fathers)
Help us find our strength in prayer,
And lead us from despair,
With comfort and healing on this day

Mi Sheberach – Imotenu
Mikor habracha – l’avotenu
O God of our mothers, daughters,
Fathers and their sons.
Deliver refuah sh’lema (complete healing)

Raise us from our darkest gloom and heal our wounds,
Send comfort to all for whom
We pray

Repair us from shattered pride, and hurt inside
Shechina, (God) our trusted guide
We pray (Chorus)

Send healing to soothe our soul, Regain control
Restore us and make us whole
We Pray

Help us to reflect your Light, Affirm your might
Heal us and Restore our sight
We pray (Chorus)
