Walk Into the Water

There is a bible story that the Israelites paused when fleeing Egypt when they reached the Sea. Caught between certain death by the advancing Egyptian army or drowning, they needed faith that by walking ahead into increasingly deeper water that they would somehow be saved. The legend goes that it wasn't until the first person stepped forward over his head, that the waters finally parted. Reminds me of lots of life moments, when things look bleak, sometimes you just need to walk into the water.

Time’s up, cornered
Windswept, sunburned on burning sand
Whipped and worn down
Mustering hope
Taking a stand
Tasting the sweetness
Of the promised land
Well the sea s about to drown us
And the enemy surrounds us
And it comes down to this moment
Gotta walk into the water
Our spirit so depleted
But our faith can’t be defeated
Gotta close our eyes and venture forward
Take a step ahead
Gotta clear our view, just walk into, gotta walk on thru the water.
Burned out, broken
Starved and thirsty, scorching heat
Dizzy, choking
Grasping at hope
Forcing our feet
Front on and forward
Towards the prize so sweet.
